Up until this point, I've been selecting one look from several fashion shows and categorizing them by the show date, but after I saw this show I had to stop: I couldn't simply pick one look! I'm a huge fan of Betsey Johnson; I love her carefree spirit, the way she incorporates music and vintage themes into her collections, and the fact she's a 69 year old woman still running her brand! This new collection has to be one of my favorites; it screams "Parisian sexy" while still giving off her trademark punk rock feel. Take a look for yourself

Greetings my loves! As many of my fellow fashionistas know, today is the start of New York Fashion Week! As a college freshman, I often dreamed of being front row at a Marc Jacobs or Betsey Johnson show, and now that I'm a disgruntled (soon to be) college graduate that has recently moved back into my parents' home, my dream of being there feels farther away than ever. Despite my pessimistic attitude (that's a whole 'nother blog post!), I'm still ooooohing and awwwwing other today's shows. Here's my top pics...

Slave Earrings: Really, Vogue Italia?

So apparently Vogue Italia thinks 400 years of oppression is the next fall trend.

Vogue Italia recently published a post called Slave Earrings on the Shop The Trend section of their website, saying...

"Jewellery has always flirted with circular shapes, especially for use in making earrings. The most classic models are the slave and creole styles in gold hoops.

If the name brings to the mind the decorative traditions of the women of colour who were brought to the southern Unites States during the slave trade, the latest interpretation is pure freedom. Colored stones, symbolic pendants and multiple spheres. And the evolution goes on."

Needless to say I am deeply disgusted, but not surprised. I've never been a huge fan of any edition of Vogue(except for the occasional British Vogue), they always seem a bit dry and out of touch to me. You can read the actual post and comments here.

Good morning loves! I'm currently sitting in class trying not to fall asleep (staying up until 4 am when you have a 9 am class = terrible idea) so what better way to pass time than to spend it with my baby (this website)? Moving on...

Cult lingerie brand Victoria's Secret is launching yet another bra to satisfy their loyal customers. This time, it's called the Showstopper, a lightly demi lined bra that the brand claims won't show through clothing. Yesterday Adriana Lima made a store appearance at Macy's Herald Square to promote the new bra, saying, “It shows nothing but your shape and provides no-show coverage right where you need it..."

The bra ranges in price from $45-55 and can be purchased here.

Any thoughts on the new bra? I'm a huge fan of their panties, but their bras never seem to wow me. But then again, I usually only buy bras during the Semi Annual Sale.

Buy or Bye? The Kardashian Kollection at Sears

So it has recently come to my attention that the Kardashian sisters (Kim, Khloe and Kourtney) are launching a product line at Sears. Sears is the last place I think of when it comes to fashion (didn't they used to have a line by LL Cool J? Ummm yeah about that....), but I'm sure getting the uber famous Kardashian sisters, who also did a line with ~~overpriced~~ Bebe years ago, is sure to create a buzz. The line hasn't officially been released yet, but Sears is holding a 72 hour presale which can be found here.

So what do you think socialites; Is the Kardashian Kollection worth shopping? Personally I don't think I should be buying one of these dresses for 70 bucks when the Dow Jones just dropped 600 points yesterday.

NYFW Spring 2010: I'm in love

Because these past two weeks have been filled with tons of schoolwork and various issues and drama I couldn't really keep up with Fashion Week as much as I wanted to, so I was forced to sift through a vast majority of the shows on style.com (where all of my photos came from btw) after all the glitz and glamour was over. I seriously don't see how people make it to soooo many of those shows over the span of one week, it must be exhausting! Anywho, here's some of my favorites.

Marc by Marc Jacobs

Fact: I've never really been a huge fan of Marc's work (yes shocking I know) but I really fell in love with this show! His polka dot/floral prints look really well and I liked how he took bright colors and mixed them with muted reds and navy blues.

Betsey Johnson

Anyone that knows me personally knows that I'm a HUGE fan of Betsey Johnson; I wrote a detailed 12 page paper on the brand/business last semester and I own numerous pieces of jewelry from Miss Johnson. I like the location, but truthfully this season didn't do it for me. The bright leopard print looked a little Lanvin-ish to me and the collection didn't seem very cohesive to me. I did like the One Night Stand theme of the show though.

Milly by Michelle Smith

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Milly! They always youtful dresses and eye-catching colors and patterns, and it looks like Michelle decided to keep the theme going. I love this collection because all of the pieces are wearable and well put together. I really love the trench/dress look in the second picture, but I'd kinda want to put the trench with the orange dress at the end for something more eye-popping.

Anna Sui

Anna Sui always has the most amazing prints. ever. I love the military inspired cape and the printed tights in the 4th picture. It seems like all of her shows are colorful with a hippie-western vibe, but nonetheless she still makes amazing clothes.

Diane von Furstenburg

My favorite. Grecian has been done sooooo many times but this collection was a refreshing take on the theme. Her dresses are beautiful and come in all different lengths, colors and styles...but my absolute favorite is the last one I posted...so gorgeous!
